Despite its small size, Zug maintains one of the most sophisticated infrastructures in Europe. No matter if one prefers travelling by car or public transport, any location may be reached easily and smoothly in a short period of time. Two large malls (one located right in the city center), as well as numerous smaller shopping streets, make shopping in Zug a pleasurable experience. Medical care is not only affordable due to Switzerland’s comprehensive and mandatory insurance scheme, but it is also one of the best in the world.
Zug is home to a large expat community, which, in addition to economic advantages, appreciates the Canton’s large variety of recreational activities. Zug is particularly famous for offering many indoor and outdoor sports opportunities as well as various cultural and family-oriented events, which take place throughout the year. Moreover, due to Zug’s unique location, one can easily take advantage of recreational activities offered in Zurich or Lucerne; both cities can be reached by car of public transport within 30min.
Swiss public schools and universities have regularly been graded in the top tier in global school/university rankings. Children with little or no command of German may attend one of the two international schools in the Canton of Zug. The latter provide exceptional education from elementary school to the International Baccalaureate (IB).
